The nationwide Agrimarket chain at your service

Agrimarket is the S Group’s chain for the agriculture-related, machinery, hardware and gardening trade. At the beginning of 2011 the chain had 120 Agrimarket stores, 8 Agrimarket Machinery Centres, 90 Multasormi gardening stores operating in conjunction with Agrimarket stores, and a John Deere Centre in Hyvinkää, which concentrates on the equipment for green-area construction, property maintenance and golf course maintenance.

The Agrimarket chain is a nationwide store and service network formed by Hankkija-Maatalous Oy, Etelä-Pohjanmaan Osuuskauppa, Suur-Seudun Osuuskauppa and Kymenlaakson Agrimarket Oy.

The Agrimarket chain’s net sales totalled 1045 million euros in 2011. The chain’s units have approximately 1120 employees in all.

The Agrimarket stores are specialised in agricultural supplies and machinery

The sales network consists of Agrimarket stores located at regional economic centres. The stores are full-service agricultural stores, offering fertilizers, lime, plant protection products and preservatives, feeds, seeds, farm implements and grain trade services. The larger Agrimarket stores’ ranges also include various farm and animal husbandry equipment, as well as spare parts sales and contract maintenance services. Furthermore, the chain provides specialised farm construction services at 20 business locations in different parts of Finland. Several stores also display a wide selection of equestrian supplies.

Machinery requiring special expertise, such as tractors, combines and special implements, is sold by the Agrimarket Machinery Centres, eight in all. The Machinery Centres are located in Hyvinkää, Turku, Tampere, Kouvola, Seinäjoki, Kuopio, Kokkola and Oulu. Their services include trade-in-machinery and contract maintenance. Professional grounds care equipment and golf course equipment are sold at the John Deere Centre in Hyvinkää.

The Agrimarket chain has 111 grain reception centres. The seed centres located in Hyvinkää and Alastaro are responsible for the chain’s own seed production.

Gardening trade at the Multasormi stores

Multasormi is a nationwide gardening store chain within the S Group. Operating in conjunction with Agrimarket stores, the 90 Multasormi stores offer full service throughout Finland.

The Multasormi stores are seasonal: they open each spring in April at the latest and close in October. Their selections cover everything you need for setting up, caring for and maintaining your yard: seedlings, summer flowers, bulbs, seeds, gardening machinery and tools, soil, peat, fertilizers, plant protection products, outdoor furniture, grills, outdoor pots, water feature supplies, mini-greenhouses, as well as yard stones and slabs.

Even those Agrimarket stores which do not have a Multasormi store, offer basic gardening supplies such as gardening machinery, tools, seeds, soil, fertilizers and plant protection products.

Since all Multasormi and Agrimarket stores belong to the S Group, all purchases of gardening products are eligible for the S-Bonus.

Hankkija-Maatalous Oy

Hankkija-Maatalous Oy is a subsidiary of SOK Corporation. Hankkija-Maatalous Oy started operations in 1988, when the agriculture-related and machinery business of the central cooperative Hankkija was transferred to the company. In July of the same year, SOK and Hankkija formed Hankkija-Maatalous Oy as their joint company for the agricultural and machinery trade. In 1993, the company became wholly owned by SOK.

Hankkija Maatalous Oy is responsible for the development of agriculture-related trade and of the Agrimarket chain in accordance with the division of labour within the S Group. The company’s managing director is Ensio Hytönen.

Feed business

Hankkija-Maatalous Oy produces and trades in Finnish feedmarket with the feedbrand Suomen Rehu.

Suomen Rehu is a leading brand at the market. Hankkija-Maatalous Oy is operating four compound feed mills in Finland, with a market share about 50% of total feed markets.

Seed centres

The Agrimarket chain’s operations include two seed centres, located in Hyvinkää and Alastaro. The seed centres prepare certified seed of all spring grain, autumn grain, pea, turnip rape and grass and feed plants.

Grain- and feedstuff trading

Agrimarket-chain is the leading operator in Finnish grain markets. We are sourcing 800.000 - 900.000 mtn grain and oilseeds from our contract farms. Hankkija-Maatalous Oy is main exporter of high quality milling oats, feed- and malting barley and also quality wheat, to EU and international markets.

We are importing feedstuffs to our own use and also trading to the farms. Proteinmeals, oils and other feedproducts are sourced from the international markets from the certified suppliers.

All parts of trading and delivery chain have a full coverage of traceability-, quality-, own control- and food safety systems. Right and safety products are secured by tests in our own grain/feed-laboratories.


Hankkija-Maatalous Oy is a member of GAFTA, FEFAC and also VYR (Fingrain) and other national organisations in the agri-industry.
